MEET THE ITALIAN HONORARY CONSUL IN ARIZONA
Roberta Gentili-Purcell was born in Bergamo, Italy on November 3, 1970. She received her J.D. diploma from the Universita’ degli Studi of Pavia, Italy in 1995, after completing a final dissertation in EU Law which was prepared utilizing research activity carried out at the Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven, Belgium thanks to an “Erasmus Program” scholarship.
Upon graduation, and while completing the mandatory requirements as a trainee attorney in major law firms in Bergamo, Italy and Paris, France, she also worked as a research fellow in EU Law, at first at her alma mater, the Universita’ degli Studi of Pavia, Italy (1996-2000), later at the Universita’ degli Studi of Bergamo, Italy (2000-2003). During that time, she also spent two semesters at the Université Paris I Pantheon Sorbonne in Paris, France as a research fellow thanks to a scholarship funded bythe University of Pavia, Italy. In 1997 she received the Certificat de Français Juridique awarded upon exam by the Chambre de Commerce et de l’Industrie de Paris, France, and in 2003 she completed her L.L.M. in European Union Law and Economics at the Universita’ degli Studi of Milan, Italy.
Upon completing the bar admission exam in October 1999 and registering to the Italian Bar (Bergamo Chapter) in January 2000, she gained relevant professional experience in the field of Civil Law seen in a perspective of Private International Law and E.U. Law.
In 2007 she received a “Post-Degree in Paralegal Studies” from Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona, and in 2009 she became affiliated to the Arizona State Bar as a Foreign Legal Consultant (Italy).
She is an attorney in good standing registered with the Italian Bar (Bergamo Chapter) since January 2000, where she maintains an office, and in 2009 she also established a law firm in Arizona specialized in Italian Immigration and Nationality law as well as Italian probate matters that have implications governed by rules of Private International Law and EU Law.
